Abstract

Physical Activity Assessment: Subjective and Objective Methods

Year 2021, , 53 - 60, 30.09.2021
https://doi.org/10.29228/JOHSE.12

Abstract

Physical activity is an essential parameter associated with general health status. Recently, there has been an increasing trend of physical inactivity due to the Covid-19 pandemic, where quarantine measures have been taken. It is an undeniable fact that physical activity prevents various non-communicable chronic diseases, increases survival rates in Covid-19 disease, maintains general well-being after illness, and contributes significantly to the quality of life by increasing the general health level. For these reasons, the evaluation of physical activity is also of great importance. Many objective and subjective physical evaluation methods led to the need for examination in detail; the protocols, advantages and disadvantages detail. Addressing physical activity assessment with a current and comprehensive literature review will make it possible to overcome some of the confusions that may occur in clinicians and the selection difficulties related to the assessment method.
