Prof. Dr. Üstün Özen graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration at Atatürk University in 1987. He completed his master’s degree in Quantitative Methods at the same university in 1990 and earned his Ph.D. in 1996 with his dissertation titled "Computer System Security and Its Application in Turkey."
Prof. Dr. Özen has contributed extensively to academic literature through numerous national and international articles, books, and conference proceedings focusing on the impacts of digitalization processes on businesses, organizations, and society. His research covers a wide array of topics, including comprehensive analyses of how digital technologies transform business processes, empirical studies on the role of data in organizational decision-making, ethical dimensions of digitalization, and issues related to data security.
His books published by international publishers and his articles indexed in SSCI/SCI-E, ESCI, SCOPUS, and TR-DİZİN journals offer significant contributions to both the theoretical and practical aspects of digital technologies. He actively participates in international symposiums and conferences, presenting numerous papers and serving as a session chair and keynote speaker, contributing to the advancement of the field of Management Information Systems (MIS). Additionally, he has led interdisciplinary projects and strengthened Turkey's presence in the digitalization domain through international academic collaborations.
Beyond his academic achievements, Prof. Dr. Özen has held various high-level administrative positions and delivered impactful work. He currently serves as the Head of the Management Information Systems Department at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Atatürk University. Over his career, he has served in key positions such as member of the University Management Board and Senate, and has also held roles such as the Founding Dean of the Open Education Faculty and General Secretary at Atatürk University.
Prof. Dr. Özen has extended his academic expertise to the broader community through active involvement in various civil society organizations. From 2014 to 2024, he served as the President of the Erzurum Branch of the Turkish Informatics Association (TBD), spearheading numerous initiatives to raise awareness of informatics in the region. Currently, he is the President of the Management Information Systems Association, where he continues to foster collaboration between academics and professionals in the MIS field.
Fluent in English, Prof. Dr. Özen actively shares his knowledge and expertise in Management Information Systems on national and international platforms, contributing significantly to the growth of the academic community in his field.
