Receiving instrument training is not seen possible very often for individuals, who have orthopedic disorders in hand or arm limbs. However, unlike many of instruments, musical work can be done by hand without a disorder by piano. Born without a right hand in 1989, Nicholas McCarthy, who has stepped to pianistic life with only one healthy hand when he was 14 years old, became the first graduate as a left hand pianist of Royal College of Music that has 132 years of history. Currently McCarthy is a member of British Paraorchestra, has recorded an album named ‘Solo’ in 2015 and continues to give concerts in the international arena. In this research, physical problems that Nicholas McCarthy experienced, his educational life and musical life will be discussed. This research is an example of qualitative research model case study. To gather data and access to Nicholas McCarthy, unstructured interview forms were applied. Analysis of the collected data made by direct interpretation method and results are discussed.
