Effect of Different Vermicompost Applications on Chemical and Physicochemical Quality Properties of Wheat

Abstract

This study was conducted at the Central Research Institute of Field Crops, Ikizce Research and Application Farm for two years in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. The research was conducted in safflower/wheat rotation system; 7 different fertilizer combinations (DAP + UREA, Solid Vermicompost (SWC) + UREA, DAP + Liquid Vermicompost (LWC), SWC + LWC, only SWC, only LWC and control without fertilizer) were used. The effects of these treatments on chemical and physicochemical quality characteristics of wheat were studied. The experiment was designed as a randomized block design with 3 replications. As a result of the study, the average grain protein rate was 13.5%, Zeleny sedimentation value was 32.4 ml and gluten index value was 83.9%. As a result, chemical and physicochemical properties of flour to be used in bread making are important for flour industry. In all chemical and physicochemical properties it was found that the treatments with chemical fertilizers came to the forefront. Especially the treatments with urea top fertilizer had higher values. In terms of sustainable agriculture, it can be said that the quality content of wheat flour produced with SWC + UREA application is higher among vermicompost applications.
