Evaluation of the Mammalian Fauna of Sinop Province

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the mammal fauna of the Sinop. For this purpose, in different habitats

in the province of Sinop, field and observational study was conducted in 2012-2014. This research resulted in

the terrestrial and aquatic biotope at Sinop Province, is likely to spread 42 mammal species were identified. This

mammal species belong to the following orders; Carnivora (11 species), Chiroptera (10 species), Rodentia (10

species), Soricomorpha (4 species), Artiodactyla (3 species), Cetacea (2 species) Lagomorpha (1 species) and

Erinaceomorpha (1 species). Sinop mammalian fauna, evaluated by IUCN category are determined endangered

species. In this context, Miniopterus schreibersii- common bent-wing bat is NT (near threatened) category;

Rhinolophus mehelyi- Mehely’s horseshoe bat is VU (vulnerable) category and one Carnivora species (Lutra lutracommon

otter) is NT (near threatened) category in Sinop province. Other mammal species in the LC (low risk,

widely distributed) category. Belonging to the family Cervidae, roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) is designated as the

target species in Sinop Bozburun Wildlife Development Land. There are no endemic mammalian species in Sinop.

Sinop İli Memeli Hayvan Faunasının Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Sinop ilinin memeli hayvan faunasının belirlenmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmada, 2012- 2014

yılları arasında Sinop ilindeki farklı habitatlarda arazi ve gözlem çalışmaları yürütülmüştür. Bu araştırmalar

sonucunda Sinop ilindeki karasal ve sucul biyotoplarda, yayılış yapması muhtemel 42 memeli türü, tarafımızca

belirlenmiştir. Carnivora (11 tür), Chiroptera (10 tür), Rodentia (10 tür), Soricomorpha (4 tür), Artiodactyla (3 tür),

Cetacea (2 tür), Lagomorpha (1 tür) ve Erinaceomorpha (1 tür) takımlarına dahildir. Sinop ili memeli hayvan faunası,

IUCN kategorilerine göre değerlendirilmiştir. Bu kapsamda Sinop ilinde yaşayan yarasa türlerinden, Miniopterus

schreibersii (Uzun kanatlı yarasa) NT (tehlike kategorisine en yakın), ve Rhinolophus mehelyi (Mehelyi’nin

nalburunlu yarasası) VU (hassas) kategorisindedir. Bir Carnivora türü olan Lutra lutra (Su samuru) NT (tehlike

kategorisine yakın) kategorisindedir. Diğer memeli türleri LC (düşük riskli, geniş yayılışlı) kategorisindedir. Sinop

ilinde endemik memeli türü bulunmamakla birlikte, Cervidae familyasına ait Karaca (Capreolus capreolus) Sinop

Bozburun Yaban Hayatı Geliştirme Sahası’nda hedef türüdür.
