It is possible for commercial cultivation of many fruit species except for tropical and subtropical
species in Igdir. The climate of Igdir is known as “Cukurova of the East”, which enables the cultivation of many
agricultural products thanks to its microklima property and soil structure. The production of apple, apricote and
peach is more dominant than the other fruits. According to 2017 statistics total fruit production was realized to
be 82.163 tons and total production value is calculated 37.964.493 $ in Igdir. Considering the 2017 year fruit
production of the Tuzluca distric rank first with 24.189 tons of total fruit productions. Regarding the fruit production
by species, 44.246 tons of apple, 31.416 tons of appricot and 3.828 tons of peach were produced in Igdir in 2017.
In this work, it was aimed to study the current fruit production potential of Iğdır province. In addition, it was aimed
to evaluate this potetial and direct the correspondances for the future production plans.
