45 pieces of local pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata Duchesne) genotypes collected in 28 cities in
Western Anatolia forms the material of this study. In order to conduct morphological characterization and inbreeding
activities, the genotypes were unrepeated planted in Altınekin district of Konya on June 13, 2013 so that each
genotype is consisted of 20 seedbeds. In the study, the diameter of the fruit, the height of the fruit, the diameter of the
peduncle, the length of peduncle, the number of the grooves, the skin thickness, the flesh thickness, total soluble solid
content (TTSC), the length of the seed cavity, and the rate of fibers were found as; 25.74 cm, 29.38 cm, 16.71 mm,
64.21 mm, 9.38 pcs/fruit, 3.07 mm, 36.17 mm, 6.6 brix, 147.46 mm, 3.74%. No curvature was seen in the neck
of fruits among 84.44% of Cucurbita moschata Duchesne genotypes, the fruit was oval among 37.78% of them,
33.33% was pyriform, 13.33% of it was golf club, 8.89% of them was egg-shaped and 6.67% of them were found
sphere. It was determined that 93.33% of the genotypes was cuspidate while the color of the fruit was orange in
68.89 of them while its color was yellow among 31.11%. Among the genotypes, the color of the second shell can’t
be seen in 75.56% of them, it was green in 24.44% of them. The brightness of fruit was medium in 31.11% of them,
it was opaque in 35.56% of them, it was bright in 33.33% while 46.51% of the genotypes had reddish orange flesh
colour and it was orange in 53.49% of them.
