The purpose of this study was to determine the factors affecting farmers’ decisions on the use of
agricultural credit in Mersin Province. The research data were collected from 239 farmers selected by multistage
random sampling technique. The research data were evaluated by descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression
analysis. In this study, it was determined that farmers’ some socioeconomic characteristics and information seeking
behaviors affected their decisions on credit usage. Family size, farmland size, cooperative partnership, and printed
material reading variables affected farmers’ use of agricultural credits positively; age of farmers, whether or not
they receive free agricultural counseling service, and the number of agricultural training programs attended in the
last year affected it negatively.
