The aim of this study is to evaluate purchasing behaviors of consumers, being
distinguished by consumers for food products coming from neighboring countries to Iğdır central
district. As a part of the study, the data from 198 participants with face to face questionnaire
method were used. According to the results of the study, 74.75% of consumers could distinguish
products coming through border-trade and illegal ways. When buying a product with the same
price, the effects of the border trade and illegal ways on the purchasing desicions is examined.
The knowledge of these products affects the purchasing desicions of 44.45% of the consumers,
while the purchase of 44.95% of the consumers it does not affect desicions. This study examines
the effects of consumers living in Iğdır central district on both purchasing desicions and the
purchasing behaviours of distinguishing the border trade and products coming from illegal ways
from other products.
