Viticulture is one of the major agricultural branches and both grape and brined vine leaves are produced
in Turkey. Brined vine leaves production is more common in some regions such as Tokat and Manisa provinces
because marketing and storing is easier and it is more economical than grape production. Therefore, many
farmers have tended to produce brined vine leaves than grape in these regions. Brined vine leaves production and
consumption has continuously increased in Turkey recent years.
Also, brined vine leaves demand has been increased especially in western countries and catering sector recent
years. Narince, Sultani Cekirdeksiz and Yapincak grape cultivars are more suitable for this purpose. Igdir province
has a suitable ecology for viticulture. Therefore, it can be one of the alternative production models for Igdir province.
It can make important contribution to economy in Igdir province.
