Exfoliative Cytology (*) Protez Kullanan ve Kullanmayan Hastalar üzerinde Yapılan Bir Araştırma (*)

Abstract

ÖZET

Bu araştırmada total protez kullanmış ve kullanmamış hastalardan yapılan sıyırmalar cytologic olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Damak, sağ ve sol yanak, sağ ve sol alveol kretlerinden alman materyelin incelenmesinde şu sonuçlar elde edilmiştir:

1. Epitel hücrelerinin keratinizasyonu bakımından protez kullanmış ve kullanmamış hastalar arasında belirli bir fark bulunamamıştır.

2. Yaş ve cinsiyet ile keratinizasyon arasında bir ilgi yoktur.

3. Sigara içenlerle içmeyenler arasında da keratinizasyonun artması bakımından bir fark bulunamamıştır.

4. Epitel hücrelerinin keratinizasyon bakımından, damak yanak ve alveol liretlerinden yapılan sıyırmalar arasında fark vardır.

SUMMARY

This investigation has been undertaken to reveal the possible mucosal changes by means of exfoliative cytologic technique on the edentuious patients with and without complete dentures.

In this investigation 50 edentuious patients have been used and the scrapings have been made from right and left cheeks, right and left maxillary residual alveolar ridges and hard palate in the midline. This makes 5 scrapings from each individual, and 250 all together.

The evaluation of the materials was made according to the classification of oral epithelial cells proposed by Camilleri and Lange.

The results have shown that:

1. There was no difference in the keratinization of the epithelial cells between two groups.

2. It seems that the age and sex of the patients are not the main factor to govern the amount and the types of exfoliated cells.

3. There was no significant difference between smokers and non-smokers.

4. There was some difference of the epithelial cells in the smears taken from different sites so far as the keratinization of the cells is concerned.
