POST-APOKALİPTİK SİNEMADA SOSYAL PSİKOLOJİK DİNAMİKLER: SNOWPİERCER ÖRNEĞİ

Year 2025, Volume: 6 Issue: 2, 418 - 436, 30.12.2025

Abstract

Çalışma, post-apokaliptik kavramının kıyamet sonrasına işaret eden yapısını dikkate alarak Snowpiercer filmini; sosyal kimlik kuramı, liderlik, prososyal davranışlar ve bilişsel çelişki kuramı çerçevesinde ele almaktadır. Post-apokaliptik filmlerde insanların yaşadığı umutsuzluğa karşı insan dayanışmasının nasıl bir çıkış ve umut kaynağı sunduğu, Snowpiercer filmi üzerinden incelenmiştir. Çalışmada sınıf ayrımının oluşturduğu grup aidiyeti ve kolektif dayanışma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden tematik analizle değerlendirilmiştir. Filmde tekrar eden temalar belirlenerek grup kimliği bilinci, fedakârlık ve yardımlaşma davranışları, empati geliştirme, lider belirleme ve otoriteye itaat eğilimleri gözlemlenmiştir. Snowpiercer’ın post-apokaliptik atmosferindeki karamsar yapının, birey ve toplum davranışlarıyla aşılmaya çalışıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Bulgular, kolektif iyileşme süreçlerinin görünür hâle geldiğini ve sosyal düzenin yeniden üretimine dair bir umudun anlatıya yerleştirildiğini göstermektedir. Böylece sinemanın yalnızca kıyamet sonrası karanlık bir atmosferi sunmakla kalmayıp, bireyin çevresiyle kurduğu ilişkiler üzerinden birlikte hareket etmenin güç durumların üstesinden gelmede belirleyici rol oynadığını vurguladığı ortaya konmuştur.

SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGICAL DYNAMICS IN POST-APOCALYPTIC CINEMA: THE CASE OF SNOWPIERCER

Year 2025, Volume: 6 Issue: 2, 418 - 436, 30.12.2025

Abstract

The study examines the film Snowpiercer by taking into account the post-apocalyptic concept’s reference to a post-doomsday context, and analyzes it within the frameworks of social identity theory, leadership, prosocial behaviors, and cognitive dissonance theory. The ways in which human solidarity offers an avenue of resistance and a source of hope against the despair experienced in postapocalyptic films are explored through the case of Snowpiercer. Within the study, group belonging and collective solidarity shaped by class divisions are evaluated using thematic analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. By identifying recurring themes in the film, phenomena such as group identity awareness, sacrifice and helping behaviors, the development of empathy, leadership formation, and tendencies toward obedience to authority are observed. It is determined that the pessimistic structure of Snowpiercer’s post-apocalyptic atmosphere is confronted and negotiated through individual and collective social behaviors.
