Abstract

Sovyetler Birliği dağılmadan önce, anavatan kabul ettikleri Kuzey Kafkasya’ya geri dönmek, özellikle Türkiye’de yaşayan Adığe ve Abazalar için bir hayal, bir ideal, bir mit olarak var olmuştu. Sovyetler’in dağılmasıyla açılan kapılar anavatana gidebilme ihtimalini gerçek kılmış, o güne kadar dönüş idealini savunanların ve fırsat bulanların bir kısmı Kafkasya’ya doğru yola çıkmıştı. Kimileri gittiklerinde karşılaştıkları koşulları görüp yerleşmekten vazgeçerken, kimileri de tüm köprüleri yakarak Kafkasya’da yerleştiler. Dönüş düşüncesi, 1991’den günümüze ulaşım ve iletişim imkanlarına bağlı olarak dönüşüme uğradı.

Bu makale Adığe ve Abazaların Türkiye’den tarihsel vatanlarına geri dönüşünün son 25 yıldaki dört farklı dönemini ele almaktadır. Bu dönemlerden ilki iletişim ve ulaşımın en zor olduğu erken dönemdir. Durağan dönem olarak adlandırdığım ikincisi, 1995-2005 yılları arasında Kafkasya’nın ekonomik ve politik olarak durağan olduğu ve geri dönüşün neredeyse durduğu dönemdir. Üçüncüsü ise 2005 yılında başlayan, Türkiye-Kafkasya arasında seyahatin kolaylaştığı ve ucuzladığı ulusaşırı dönemdir. Rusya-Türkiye arasında 2015 yılındaki uçak kriziyle başlayan süreç ise aylar boyunca sürekli değişen dinamikleriyle son dönemi oluşturmaktadır. Bu makale 2005 yılından günümüze Türkiye’de diasporanın yaşadığı yerlerde, Kafkasya’da Abhazya ve Adıgey сumhuriyetlerinde ve bu coğrafyalar arasında sürekli seyahat ederken yaptığım gözlem, derinlemesine görüşme ve yaşam hikayesi görüşmelerine dayanmaktadır. Araştırmamın 2013 yılında yapılan saha çalışması MIREKOC’tan kazandığım doktora araştırma bursuyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu makale gözlem ve anlatılardan yola çıkarak Kafkasya’ya geri dönüşün çeyrek asırda göçten ulusaşırı hareketliliğe dönüşümünü tartışmaktadır.

Abstract

Before the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the concept of returning to the ancestral homeland in the Caucasus for the Adyge and Abkhaz living in Turkey existed only as a dream, an ideal, a myth. With the collapse of the Soviet Union homeland became accessible and the possibility of visiting it became a reality. Some who were defending the idea of returnism (an ideology advocating re-settlement in the homeland) and had the opportunity went to the Caucasus. While some decided not to settle down seeing the conditions of the homeland, some, with a decision to burn all the bridges, moved to the homeland for good. Since 1991, the ideology of return has been transformed according to the conditions of travel and communication.

This article looks at the four periods of return of the Adyge and Abkhaz from Turkey to the ancestral homeland in the last twenty five years. The first is the early period when travel and communication was hardest. The second is the stagnation period covering the time between 1995 and 2005 that was characterised, both economically and politically, by the stagnation in the Caucasus as a result of which return migration almost came to a halt. The third is the transnational period starting in 2005 when travel between Turkey and the Caucasus became easier and cheaper. The last period starting in 2015 with the airplane crisis between Russia and Turkey went on for months with constantly changing dynamics. The data for this paper has been collected through participant observation, in-depth and life-story interviews that I have conducted since 2005 while travelling between the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of Adygeya and Turkey. In 2013, my fieldwork was supported by the MIREKOC PhD Research Funding. This article discusses return migration of the Adyge and Abkhaz of Turkey to the North Caucasus – their ancestral homeland - in the last 25 years, and how the concept of return has transformed from migration to transnational mobility.
