Herpes Zoster (HZ) is a disease characterized by pain and rash resulting from the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). The disease incidence increases when the immune system is compromised. Treatment of pain in the acute phase is an effective approach also to prevent postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), which may develop further. The ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block (USG-guided ESPB) has recently been introduced for use in the treatment of acute herpes zoster pain. We, hereby, present a 63-year-old patient with rectum cancer, who underwent USG-guided ESPB in our algology clinic for the treatment of acute pain due to thoracic zoster.
