The Intellectual Structure of Corporate Strategy Studies: A Bibliometric Analysis

Year 2024, Volume: 9 Issue: Special Issue, 167 - 187

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the intellectual structure of the field through a bibliometric analysis of publications on corporate strategy. For this purpose, performance analysis and scientific mapping methods, two basic techniques of bibliometric analysis, were used to reveal the view of the research field of 1023 publications obtained from the Web of Science (WoS)/Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) database. It is seen that there is a wide and developed research field with a predominance of empirical studies since 1980 until today. In the field of corporate strategy, research on growth and diversification strategies based on resource-based approach, agency theory and corporate governance has gained weight, but since the 2000s, themes such as business groups, acquisitions, innovation, digitalization, internationalization and sustainability in emerging markets have been the current agenda of the field. In this framework, it can be stated that the studies on internationalization, innovation, digitalization, mergers and acquisitions, sustainability, and organic growth strategies in the field of corporate strategy in emerging markets are relatively weak and there is a gap in this field. Since corporate strategies determine the survival of organizations, it is thought that advancing the current thematic research area in this field will contribute to the management of organizations.

Kurumsal Strateji Çalışmalarının Entelektüel Yapısı: Bibliyometrik Bir Analiz

Year 2024, Volume: 9 Issue: Special Issue, 167 - 187
