Genç Yetişkinlerde Benlik Saygısının Yordanmasında Beş Faktör Kişilik Modeli’nin Rolünün İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, genç yetişkinlerde benlik saygısının,
Beş Faktör Modeli kapsamında değerlendirilen kişilik özellikleriyle yordanması
ve farklı sosyo-demografik grupların benlik saygısı açısından karşılaştırılması
amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmaya, 18-29 yaşları arasında 196 kadın ve 112 erkek olmak
üzere toplamda 308 kişi katılmıştır. Çalışmada, Coopersmith Benlik Saygısı
Envanteri ve Büyük Beş-50 Kişilik Testi kullanılmıştır. Benlik saygısı ile
kişilik özellikleri arasındaki bağıntı katsayıları hesaplanmış ve benlik
saygısı kişilik testinde yer alan beş faktörle de ilişkili bulunmuş, en yüksek
ilişki düzeyinin ise Duygusal Dengelilik faktörü ile olduğu görülmüştür. Benlik
saygısının kişilik özellikleri ile yordanması işleminde ise toplam varyans
%30,1 düzeyinde açıklanmıştır. Dışadönüklük, Sorumluluk ve Duygusal Dengelilik
faktörleri benlik saygısını yordarken, Uyumluluk ve Zekâ / Hayal Gücü
faktörleri regresyon modelinde yer almamıştır. Çalışmada son işlem olarak,
sosyo-demografik grupların benlik saygısı toplam puan ortalamaları çok yönlü
tek değişkenli varyans analizi (ANOVA) ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu sonuca göre,
cinsiyet grupları arasında, yaş grupları arasında ve gelir durumu grupları
arasında benlik saygısı düzeyi açısından farklılıklar olduğu, buna karşın
medeni durum ve eğitim durumu grupları arasında farklılık olmadığı görülmüştür.
