Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of psychological resilience on individual disaster resilience in healthcare workers. The secondary aim of the study is to determine whether there is a significant difference between demographic factors and psychological resilience and individual disaster resilience. The study was conducted with the participation of 226 health workers. "Psychological Resilience Scale and Individual Disaster Resilience Scale" were used to collect the data. SPSS 26 and AMOS 24 programmes were used to evaluate the data. Data were analysed by descriptive statistics, independent sample t test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation and regression analysis. As a result of the study, it was determined that psychological resilience and individual disaster resilience were at a high level in healthcare workers. While there was no significant difference between psychological resilience and individual disaster resilience with "gender, marital status, age, education, working time in the institution, duty, economic status and disaster experience" in health care workers, psychological resilience level was significantly higher in those with higher total professional years, and psychological resilience and individual disaster resilience were significantly higher in those who received disaster-related training. It was determined that there was a significant and positive relationship between psychological resilience and individual disaster resistance and psychological resilience positively affected individual disaster resistance. As a result of the study, it is emphasised that increasing the level of psychological resilience and individual disaster resilience of healthcare workers is of critical importance. In this context, it is recommended to provide disaster-related trainings and drills with psychological-based approaches, while the findings of this study provide information to educators, managers and researchers in the field of health to support the resilience of health professionals against disasters.
