Hacamat (kupa tedavisi) İle ilgili YouTube videolarınındeğerlendirilmesi

Year 2025, Volume: 6 Issue: 5, 530 - 535, 24.10.2025

Abstract

Evaluation of YouTube videos about cupping therapy

Year 2025, Volume: 6 Issue: 5, 530 - 535, 24.10.2025

Abstract

Aims: This study aims to analyze and evaluate how content related to traditional medicine methods, such as cupping therapy and hijama, is presented on the YouTube platform.
Methods: Cupping therapy works by increasing regional blood flow, causing vasodilation, interstitial fluid accumulation, and local heat increase. The existence of these traditional practices in the digital environment is made possible by updating the platforms. The videos were selected using YouTube search results from November 1st, 2023. The number of views, likes, and comments varied. To ensure currency, the focus was on content from the last decade, with a majority in Turkish. The data was evaluated using global quality scale (GQS), multidimensional scaling (MDS) and The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) surveys for video quality and reliability.
Results: The findings indicate that 77% of the 100 videos examined were created by physicians. The study found significant MDS, GQS, and JAMA scores in videos containing diagnosis, epidemiology, treatment, and dietary information.
Conclusion: This research takes an important step in evaluating the accuracy and quality of traditional medical content on social media platforms. The findings provide important clues for providing accurate information to viewers and increasing awareness of health-related issues.

Ethical Statement

Ethical Approval: Since publicly available data were used in this study, it is observational and exempt from ethics committee approval.
