3. HUMAN CAPITAL AND ECONOMIC GROWTH: EVIDENCE FROM WESTERN EUROPEAN AND CEECS COUNTRIES

The aim of the Journal of Research in Economics, with the former name Marmara Journal of Economics, is to publish high quality theoretical and applied research papers in all fields of economics. 

Journal of Research in Economics (JORE), with the former name Marmara Journal of Economics, is an international, double blind-review journal on economics. Empirical analysis is encouraged but not necessary. JORE is published electronically and easily accessible, free of charge from the website: http://ikf.marmara.edu.tr/en/research/jore/

JORE only accepts papers in English. JORE is published semi-annually (every March and October). Before March 2022 issue, Both English and Turkish manuscripts were accepted. JORE is published semi-annually (March and October).

GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLE SUBMISSION

Article Submission
The article in MS Word format will be sent to the e-mail address.

Article: General Requirements
Title will be center-aligned.

Authors’ name and surname will be written under the main title, right-aligned.

Sign (*) can be put after the name of the author in order to point out address and e-mail information belonging to the author at the bottom of the page with the title.

Title and author's name will be followed by an Abstract that briefly mentions aim of the paper, methodology used and general considerations of the study with 50 to 300 words. Keywords for the paper will be written below the Abstract. And three-digit JEL Classification Codes including the subject category of the article will be given under the Keywords. An article can belong to multiple JEL Classifications. At least 3 JEL classifications should be given.

Article will include an Introduction section. In this section, importance of that study is explained and a general assessment of related studies in the literature will be stated in general.

It is expected that the articles submitted to the journal will not exceed 25 pages.

Sections
Sections will be divided into Headings and Sub-headings according to their contents and will be organized according to decimal numbering scheme.

In the sections following Introduction, theoretical and/or empirical foundations of the study, methodology and data collection technique, after following a systematic order, will be assessed in general in the light of key findings obtained.

Notes that are required to be expressed, but interrupts the flow of main statement or information that is explaining an issue in detail will be included in footnotes.

Final judgment will be included in “Conclusion”.

Sources used in the article will be included in “References”.

All sections of the article will be numbered in bold and subsections will be indented.

Footnotes and Citations
Footnote will be written at the bottom of the page. Citations must follow APA style.

Tables, Graphs and Diagrams
Each table, graph and diagram in all sections or appendices will be numbered one by one. The number of each table, graph or diagram will be followed by its title. There will be half line spacing between the line that title is written and the figure below. If title is longer than a line, it will be written by using 1.0 line spacing. Source of figure that is referred to in the text will be given below the figure with no line spacing. Source of figure will be cited below the figure as "Source:......" . In general thinner border line is more appropriate (3/4 pt). Variable names given in the first row and column of a table or in the axes of a graph should be written in BOLD. Each table, graph or diagram should be located in the best possible distance to the comment mentioned in the text by referring to that figure.

Authors submitting manuscripts to the JORE must follow the guidelines provided in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Sixth Edition (APA manual). (Also check)

Ethical principles and rules are prepared in accordance with the guidelines of the Editorial Ethics Committee (Committe on Publication Ethics - COPE (https://publicationethics.org/)) and the ethical responsibilities and duties of the authors, journal editor and referees are given as follows:

Authors

The Journal of Research in Economics accepts original and theoretical research articles by local and foreign researchers in all fields of economics, including labor economics and industrial relations, finance and econometrics.

All references used in the articles should be shown in accordance with the writing guide and in accordance with ethical principles.

Authors should not send their articles published elsewhere or submitted for publication to the Journal of Research in Economics.

Authors with empirical work should be ready to present their data to referees, editor and editorial board, if requested. Authors must document that the rights to use the data have been obtained, the consent of the research related or the consent of the participants on which they have researched.

Authors have an obligation to inform the editor of the journal, to cooperate with the editor in the process of correction or withdrawal if they notice a mistake about their published, early appearance or evaluation phase.

The names of persons who do not contribute to the article should not be written as authors, and the order of the authors of an submitted article to be published should not be changed, or the process of adding / removing authors should not be requested.

"Actions Against Scientific Research and Publication Ethics" are stated in Article 4 of Section 2 of UAK Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive. Authors are obliged to comply with the issues stated here.

In case of violation of the ethical principles, the author's institution will be contacted and the article will be rejected.

It is the ethical responsibility of the authors to review the “Ethics Committee Consent” page for information about the ethics committee and to fulfill the requirements. In studies requiring Ethics Committee permission, information about the permission (name of the board, date and number) should be included in the method section and also on the first / last page of the article.

Researches requiring the approval of the Ethics Committee are as follows: All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using questionnaire, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques.

Editors

The editor is obliged to act objectively and fairly without making any distinction between the authors, and to implement the necessary procedures by adhering to the journal's policies and procedures in case of ethical violations.

It is the duty and responsibility of the editors to ensure unbiased evaluation of the articles with a large pool of referees.

Editors have the authority to reject manuscripts that are found to be problematic in their scientific approach without initiating the referee process.

Before the referee process, each manuscript is checked via Turnitin. Manuscripts with similarity ratio above 20% are returned to the authors.

Referees

The evaluation process of the articles is subject to the blind review system. The authors cannot be informed about the identities of the referees and the referees about the identity of the authors.

In the process of double closed referee, a third referee can be applied when deemed necessary by the editor in the evaluation of the article that received a rejection and an acceptance.

Referees must comply with the principle of confidentiality and impartiality, and should not use the information they obtain from the articles they evaluate for personal gain.

Publication Policy

No royalty fee is paid to the author(s) for the articles published in the JORE.

All kinds of legal responsibility regarding the articles published in the JORE belongs to the author(s).

The JORE has the right to publish, not publish and make corrections to the submitted articles.

Copyright Transfer Form should be sent to the editor by post or e-mail after the article is accepted.
