Abstract

Marshall McLuhan, John Fiske, John Hartley, Stuart Hall, John Ellis, Raymond Williams gibi televizyonu kendine özgü bir medyum olarak araştıran teorisyenler çeşitli ve birbirinden farklı yaklaşımlarda bulundular. Fakat bütün çeşitliliğine ve farklılığına rağmen bu teorileri televizyonun daha çok araçsal/yapısal, dilsel/metinsel ve çevresel özellikleri üzerine odaklaşan yaklaşımlar olarak ayrıştırmak mümkün gözükmektedir. Bir bütün olarak bakıldığında bu yaklaşımların hiçbirinin kendi başına televizyonun ne ve nasıl bir şey olduğu sorusunu yeterince açıklamaya yetmediği görülmektedir. Özellikle televizyonun hem içerik hem de biçimsel özellikleri bakımından gerçeklik algısını ve toplumsal davranışları nasıl etkilediği ve dönüştürdüğü sorusu gereğince incelenmemiş bir alan olarak gündem oluşturmaya devam etmektedir. Bu çalışma televizyonun bütününe hakim olan magazinsel yapısı ve sunduğu bilgilendirme biçimleri üzerine odaklanmakta ve böylece söz konusu açığın giderilmesine katkı sağlamaktadır.
