Electric motors are the most commonly used power source in the operation of pumps. In particular, submersible pumps are manufactured by direct coupling to the electric motor. This compact design of submersible pumps and the submersible operation do not allow the pump speed in rpm to be measured in variable load conditions. Pump speed in rpm is an important parameter affecting the manometric height and flow rate. In this study, a method has been developed to estimate the motor / pump speed in rpm by using the manufacturer’s experimental data the for 3-phase asynchronous motors which are widely used in the drive of submersible pumps. It has been determined that the number of speed in rpm of the electric motor and the direct coupling submersible pump can be estimated with a low error rate. Operating speed of asynchronous motors could be computed using with rated speed and percent loading of motors.
