Açıklamalı Bibliyografya 1984-2024

Readers can learn about scientists’ opinion on their publications either through reviews or to the extent mentioned by those who write their biographies. However, learning an author’s thoughts about their own work directly from them is not the same as reading third-party evaluations. For this reason, Marek Stachowski's work—unprecedented in its kind—offers a meaningful contribution to the history of science: the author presents a comprehensive bibliography of his works, enriched with his own commentary, reflections, and memories, treating it as a part of his life. In addition to its value for the history of science, such a publication also offers highly practical benefits. Looking specifically at Marek Stachowski, the total number of academic publications he has produced over a span of 40 years is 320. Considering his work discipline and pace—even though he has been living with a severe health condition since 2019—it is not difficult to predict that the number of his publications will continue to grow. He has produced works in various languages such as Polish, German, English, Turkish, and Russian; his articles have been published in books printed in countries including Poland, Turkey, Germany, the UK, Italy, Russia, Japan, Korea, Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovakia, Czechia, the Netherlands, Finland, Norway, Ukraine, Latvia, and the United States. Therefore, anyone working in linguistics—particularly in fields such as etymology, interlinguistic relations and exchanges, Siberian languages, Balkan languages, and related areas—is bound to encounter the name Marek Stachowski. However, a reader facing a corpus of 320 publications will undoubtedly need a guide to navigate through them. Instead of a summary, this note—added by the translator—is an attempt to describe the nature of the work.
