THE EFFECT OF SELF-EFFICACY PERCEPTION ON LEARNING FROM MISTAKES AT WORKPLACE

Abstract

Errors are inevitable in the functioning of organizations. Being affected by the negativity of mistakes or hiding these mistakes will not helpful. Only organizations that learn from their mistakes and avoid from similar ones in the future will have a positive impact. Learning from mistakes is possible when individuals take action with cognitive and organizational resources. One of these cognitive resources may be self-efficacy. This study, which is based on the question “Does the perception of self-efficacy affect the attitude of learning from mistakes?” is built on the basis of Social Cognitive Theory and Self-Efficacy Theory in order to determine the effect of individuals' self-efficacy perceptions on their attitudes towards learning from mistakes at work. The data of the research, which has a quantitative and empirical design, was obtained by survey method from 397 public institution employees and analyzed using SPSS 24 and AMOS 29. The findings show that individuals' self-efficacy perceptions have statistically positive and significant effects on their attitudes of learning from mistakes at work and their dimensions ‘cause analysis’ and ‘strategy development’ attitudes. It is thought that this study, in which implications for research and practice are discussed, contributes to the literature and provides insight for practitioners.

ÖZYETERLİLİK ALGISININ İŞ YERİNDE HATALARDAN ÖĞRENME TUTUMU ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ
