CURRENT MANAGEMENT OF HEPATOCELLULER CARCINOMA

Abstract

Hepatocelluler carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary malignant tumors of the liver. Early diagnosis is one of the most important factors for the prognosis of HCC. The curative treatment of HCC can be reached with hepatic resection and liver transplantation. Five year survival following hepatic resection for HCC has been reached to 60% and operative mortality decreased to lower than 3%. Successful results of locally ablative therapies are reported for unsuitable cases for resection and transplantation. Cytoreductive surgery can be performed in the patients with unresectable cancers. Successful laparoscopic liver resections for HCC have been reported with lower morbidity and mortality in the last years.
