Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The publication and editorial processes of the Journal of Surgical Arts are shaped in accordance with the guidelines of the International Council of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), and the National Organization for Information Standards (NISO). The journal adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scientific Publishing (doaj.org/bestpractice). For experimental, clinical, and drug studies, as well as some case reports, approval of research protocols by the Ethics Committee is required in accordance with international agreements (World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki "Ethical Principles for Medical Research on Human Subjects", updated October 2013, www.wma.net).

The Journal of Surgical Arts requires and encourages authors and individuals involved in the evaluation process of submitted articles to disclose any existing or potential conflicts of interest, including financial, consulting, and institutional conflicts of interest that could lead to potential bias or conflicts of interest. Any financial grants or other support received from individuals or institutions for a submitted work must be reported to the Editorial Board.

When submitting an article to the Journal of Surgical Arts, authors agree to transfer the copyright of their article to the Journal. If rejected for publication, the copyright of the article will be transferred back to the authors. When using previously published content, including figures, tables, or any other material, in both print and electronic formats, authors must obtain permission from the copyright holder and/or be identified in the bibliography. Legal, financial, and criminal responsibilities in this regard rest with the author(s).
