The Relationship Between Sports Commitment and Psychological Resilience

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between commitment to sports and psychological resilience. In the study, Sports Commitment and Psychological Resilience scales were used and a total of 398 people (113 women and 285 men) participated voluntarily. The factor structures of the scales were tested using IBM AMOS 24, and the hypothesis of the study was examined with IBM SPSS 24. Considering that the data set exhibited a normal distribution, parametric tests were applied to this data set. The "Independent Samples T-test" was conducted for discrete variables, and "Pearson Correlation" analyses were performed for continuous variables. The results were evaluated based on p-values at a significance level of ,05. The effect sizes of independent variables on dependent variables were assessed using "Cohen's d". The results of the Pearson correlation analysis indicate a positive and statistically significant relationship between commitment to sports and psychological resilience (r = ,151, p < ,01). This finding suggests that as commitment to sports increases, psychological resilience also increases. Therefore, it can be said that commitment to sports positively contributes to individuals' psychological resilience. This result emphasizes that regular exercise is important for psychological resilience.

Spora Bağlılık İle Psikolojik Sağlamlık Arasındaki İlişki

Abstract

Bu çalışma, spora olan bağlılığın psikolojik sağlamlık ile ilişkisini araştırmaktadır. Çalışmada, Spora Bağlılık ve Psikolojik Sağlamlık ölçekleri kullanılmış olup, toplamda 398 kişi (113 kadın ve 285 erkek) gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Ölçeklerin faktör yapıları IBM AMOS 24 ile test edilmiş ve çalışmanın hipotezi IBM SPSS 24 ile incelenmiştir. Veri setinin normal bir dağılım sergilediği göz önüne alınarak, bu veri seti için parametrik testler uygulanmıştır. Süreksiz değişkenler için "Bağımsız Örneklemler T-testi" ve sürekli değişkenler için "Pearson Korelasyon" analizleri gerçekleştirilmiş ve elde edilen sonuçlar, p değerleri 0,050 anlamlılık düzeyine göre değerlendirilmiştir. Bağımsız değişkenlerin bağımlı değişkenler üzerindeki etki büyüklükleri “Cohen’s d” ile değerlendirilmiştir. Pearson korelasyon analizi sonuçları, spora olan bağlılığın psikolojik sağlamlıkla pozitif yönlü ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki içinde olduğunu göstermektedir (r = .151, p < .01). Bu bulgu, spora bağlılık arttıkça psikolojik sağlamlığın da arttığını göstermektedir. Dolayısıyla, spora olan bağlılığın bireylerin psikolojik sağlamlığına olumlu bir şekilde katkıda bulunduğu söylenebilir. Bu sonuç, düzenli egzersizin psikolojik sağlamlık açısından önemli olduğunu vurgulamaktadır.
