Hip Rotation Limitation and Turning Performance in Young Football Players

Abstract

Aim: This study compared the rotation times from the dominant side to the non-dominant side and from the non-dominant side to the dominant side in male football players under 20 years of age with bilateral hip internal and external rotation limitations.
Method: A total of 46 male football players aged between 15 and 20 participated in the study. Hip rotation angles were measured using a digital goniometer with high reading accuracy; players with bilateral internal and external rotation angles below 45° were included in the study. Turn durations were evaluated using the SpeedCourt system.
Results: According to the analysis results, the return time from the dominant side to the non-dominant side (0.398 ± 0.083) was longer than the return time from the non-dominant side to the dominant side (0.380 ± 0.093), and this difference was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05).
Conclusions and Suggestions: The findings obtained indicate that hip rotation limitation may have an effect on rotation performance, and therefore, rehabilitation programs applied to these individuals should be reviewed

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma, bilateral kalça internal ve eksternal rotasyon limitasyonu olan 20 yaşın altındaki erkek futbolcularda, dominant taraftan non-dominant tarafa ve non-dominant taraftan dominant tarafa dönüş sürelerini karşılaştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Yöntem: Araştırmaya, yaşları 15 ile 20 arasında değişen toplam 46 erkek futbolcu katılmıştır. Kalça rotasyon açıları, yüksek okuma hassasiyetine sahip dijital gonyometre kullanılarak ölçülmüş; bilateral internal ve eksternal rotasyon açıları 45°’nin altında olan futbolcular çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Dönüş süreleri, SpeedCourt sistemi ile değerlendirilmiştir.
Bulgular: Analizler sonucunda, dominant taraftan non-dominant tarafa dönüş süresi (0.398 ± 0.083), non-dominant taraftan dominant tarafa dönüş süresinden (0.380 ± 0.093) daha fazladır ve bu fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur (p<0.05).
Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Elde edilen bulgular, kalça rotasyon limitasyonunun dönüş performansı üzerinde etkili olabileceğini ve bu nedenle bu bireylerde uygulanan rehabilitasyon programlarının gözden geçirilmesi gerektiğini göstermektedir.
