A METAPHORICAL REVİEW THOUGHTS ON GENTRIFICATED DIGITAL WORLD

Abstract

Today, the point that technology has reached the top level and the speed of spreading the internet have made many daily practices functional via networks. Now, each day a new person has started to enter this networks. The gathering of many kind of various people had begun to transform both the meaning and method of using the Internet. The concept of “gentrification”, which is generally used for physical communities, can be interpreted in the most basic sense as an effort to improve the conditions in a certain place. Digital communities and physical communities are similar structure. Besides, with a metaphorical method gentrification can be effective on these communities; so It is possible to say that digital communities are also trying to be changed for certain purposes, just as physical communities. In this study aims to be question the meaning of gentrification in digital society, how it is done and what the measures that can be taken in this direction. This study aims to question the idea of gentrification in digital world, based on the assumption that a concept that gains meaning through physical communities can also have an impact on digital communities.

DİJİTAL DÜNYANIN SOYLULAŞTIRILMASI ÜZERİNE METAFORİK BİR İNCELEME

Abstract

Teknolojinin günümüzde ulaştığı nokta ve internetin yayılma hızı gündelik birçok pratiği ağlar üzerinden işlevsel hale getirmiştir. Artık her gün yeni bir insan dijital topluluklara katılmaya başlamıştır. Farklı türden birçok insanın bir araya gelmesi internetin kullanımının hem anlamını hem de yöntemini dönüştürmeye başlamıştır. “Soylulaştırma” kavramı en temel anlamda belli bir yerdeki fiziki koşulların iyileştirilme çabası olarak yorumlanabilir. Dijital topluluklar giderek klasik topluluklara benzer bir görünüm kazanmaktadır. Metaforik bir yöntemle soylulaştırma kavramının bu topluluklar üzerinde de etkili olduğunu yani; dijital toplulukların da belli amaçlar doğrultusunda tıpkı somut topluluklar gibi değiştirilmeye çalıştığını söylemek mümkündür. Bu çalışma somut topluluklar üzerinden anlam kazanan bir kavramın dijital topluluklar üzerinde de etkili olabileceği varsayımından hareket ederek dijitalde soylulaştırma düşüncesini sorgulamayı amaçlamaktadır.
