The Interaction Between Sustainability and Export: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

The influence of commercial operations and their significant consumption has rendered the notion of sustainability prominent globally. The escalation of production and consumption is hastening the depletion of natural resources. It is essential to utilize natural resources in a manner that fulfils the requirements of future generations and promotes the enduring sustainability of social welfare. The notion of sustainability, encompassing environmental, economic, and social dimensions, becomes increasingly significant, fostering circumstances that fulfil a shared objective across several domains. The rapidly increasing demand of societies also increases the consumption of natural resources. Export, a cornerstone of global trade, is intrinsically linked to sustainability; elevated production levels and resource consumption, the quest for a stable and profitable market over the long term, and the emphasis on social welfare are directly connected to the facets of sustainability. This research examines the notions of sustainability and export using bibliometric analysis. A total of 2,021 papers were analyzed from the Scopus database, incorporating both keywords, published between 2009 and 2023. Sustainability and export keywords are linked to themes including economic growth, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and international commerce. Furthermore, an examination of the density of nations addressing themes collectively reveals significant data for China, the USA, and the United Kingdom. The notion of sustainability is predicted to maintain its appeal, with notable advancements anticipated in environmental and economic stability, influenced by export dynamics.
