Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to provide information about nutritional supplements (vitamin C and D, iron, magnesium, caffeine, sports and energy drinks, branched chain amino acids, HMB, glutamine, whey, creatine, bicarbonate, carnitine) that are reported to be used most frequently in volleyball. The content of the review was created by summarizing the reviews about nutritional supplements, in which many studies have been collected and interpreted before, and reference articles of related publications and research articles on volleyball players. The reason for the use of reviews in the preparation of the content is to eliminate the individual bias that may arise in the selection of research articles with numerous and different results. Although the information specific to the use of nutritional supplements in volleyball is insufficient due to the low number of studies on volleyball players, it is thought that the information given about supplements is sufficient to give an idea to the readers. As a result, studies investigating the benefits of supplements continue to be conducted and responses differ methodologically and individually. It is unlikely that, the other supplements are unlikely to improve health or performance unless the athlete has a deficiency in their body. They may even have harmful effects on performance because they blind training adaptation and on health because they increase the risk of injury.
