Abstract
Crimea, It was occupied by the Germans during World War II. The occupation process, which started in September 1941, was completed with the acquisition of Sevastopol in July 1942. During this occupation, the Germans needed support against the Soviet Union. In this regard, they thought of using the Crimean Tatars, who knew the conditions of the region well and had been tired of Soviet persecution for a long time. In order to attract them to their side, they skillfully used propaganda methods in Crimea and made intensive Islamic propaganda. In order to win the Crimean Tatars, a propaganda process against Islam would be very beneficial for the Germans. For this reason, they did not interfere with the religious practices of the Crimean Tatars and tried to use one of their weakest points as leverage. II. The German occupation during World War II initially gave hope to the Crimean Tatars as a period of religious freedom in Crimea. But later, when they clearly understood the true goals of the Germans, they were confronted with the realities of the war. In this study, the policies of the Germans towards Islam during their occupation of Crimea will be examined, and the effects of these policies on Crimean Tatars will be evaluated.
