Abstract
Türk Modernleşmesinin Cinsiyeti: Erkekler Devlet, Kadınlar Aile Kurar isimli kitap, Serpil Sancar’ın 2005-2009 tarihleri arasında Ankara Üniversitesi Kadın Çalışmaları Yüksek Lisans Programı’nda verdiği “Türk Modernleşmesinin Cinsiyeti” başlıklı dersinden hareketle kaleme aldığı bir çalışmadır. Feminist bir tarih okumasını merkeze alan yazar, Türkiye’de bugün halen kadın hakları sorunlarının devam etmesinin ardında yatan nedenleri ve erken modernleşme döneminde gelişen cinsiyet rejiminin bugüne etkisinin ne denli büyük olduğunu tartışmıştır. Bu bağlamda, Geç Osmanlı ve Erken Cumhuriyet dönemlerindeki modernleşme süreçleri arasında bağlantı kurarak önce literatür okuması yapmış ardından bütüncül bir yaklaşım ile tarihten bugüne cinsiyet rejimi kavramını tartışmıştır. Sancar önsözde, bu kitabın yazılmasını Türkiye’deki feminist kadın araştırmacı ve tarihçilere borçlu olduğunu ve amacının feminist tarihçilerin bıraktıkları noktadan sonrasına; 1940 ile 1960 yılları arasındaki cinsiyet rejiminin dönüşümüne ışık tutacak bir araştırma yapmak olduğunu belirtmiştir.
