Abstract
Prof. Dr. Mücteba İlgürel started as the founding chair of the History Department at Marmara University in 1982 and soon became a professor. He was known for his dedication and attention to detail, playing a key role in shaping the university. More than just a lecturer, İlgürel was a mentor who built strong connections with his students, encouraging them to think critically and engage in research. His combination of discipline, kindness, and deep knowledge left a lasting impression on his students and made him a respected figure in the academic world.

Prof. Dr. Mücteba İlgürel, 1982'de Marmara Üniversitesi Tarih Bölümü’nün kurucu başkanı olarak göreve başlamış ve bir süre sonra profesörlük unvanına yükselmiştir. Disiplinli ve titiz bir akademisyen olarak, üniversitenin gelişiminde kilit bir rol üstlenmişti. İlgürel, öğrencilere yakın ve rehberlik eden bir hoca olarak bilinirken, derslerde sadece bilgi aktarmakla kalmayıp, onları düşünmeye ve araştırmaya teşvik ederdi.
