Abstract

Abstract

AimDamage in sperms DNA is an important cause of male infertility and effects the outcomes of in vitro fertilization. We aimed to study the influence of DNA fragmantation rate on IVF-ICSI outcomes.MethodsA total of fifteen patients were included in the study. The patients were involved in a grouping process according to the treatment protocols of antagonize and long protocols, or according to the DNA fragmantation rate of 30% and more or less than 30%. The outcomes of the IVF-ICSI processes were evaluated by comparison of the groups. DNA framantation rates were demonstrated by using the halosperm technique.ResultsInfertility characteristics of the comparison groups were similar. The comparison according to the treatment protocols did not show significant differences between the outcomes of the treatments (p> 0.05). In addition, comparison according to the spern DNA fragmantation rates also did not show significant differences between treatment outcomes (p> 0.05). The total fertilization rate was 29.7% and the clinical pregnancy rate was 6.6 %. Mean DNA fragmantation rate of the sperms was 25.2 ± 13.6.Conclusion: Although, our study could not demonstrate a correlation between the DNA fragmantation rates of the sperms and the IVF-ICSI outcomes, we think that future prospective randomized controlled trials with larger samples will be more enlightening.
