Retroaortik Sol Renal Ven Basit Renal Kist Oluşumunda Predispozan Bir Faktör mü?

Abstract

Amaç: Retroaortik sol renal ven (RSRV) abdominal aorta ile vertebra arasından geçerek vena cava inferiora drene olur. Bu durum, sol renal venin abdominal aorta ile vertebra arasında basıya uğramasına ve sol renal vende basınç artışına neden olur. Biz bu çalışmada, abdomen bilgisayarlı tomografi (BT)’de RSRV olan olgularda sol renal vendeki basınç artışının basit renal kistler ile ilişkili olup olmadığını değerlendirmeyi amaçladık.
Materyal ve Metot: Bu çalışma retrospektif olarak, 2015-2019 yılları arasındaki abdomen BT görüntüleri taranarak yapıldı. RSRV saptanan toplam 198 hasta çalışmaya dâhil edildi. Bu hastalarda sağ ve sol böbrek arasında kist sayısı ve boyutu açısından anlamlı fark olup olmadığı istatistiksel olarak değerlendirildi.
Bulgular: Hastaların yaş ortalaması 52,6 ± 16,5 (19-90) olarak saptandı. Kist sayıları açısından her iki böbrek arasında anlamlı bir fark saptanmadı (P = 0,737). Kist boyutu açısından ise her iki böbrek arasında anlamlı bir fark mevcuttu (P = 0,012). RSRV’i olan sol böbrekteki kistlerin boyutları anlamlı düzeyde daha büyüktü.
Sonuç: Çalışmamızda her iki böbrek arasında kist sayıları açısından anlamlı bir fark bulamazken, RSRV’e sahip olan sol böbrekteki kistlerin boyutunun anlamlı olarak daha büyük olduğunu saptadık. Bu durum RSRV’in renal kist oluşumunda etkisinin olmayabileceğini, fakat oluşan kistlerin boyutuna etki edebileceğini düşündürmektedir.

Is Retroaortic Left Renal Vein a Predisposing Factor in Simple Renal Cyst Formation?

Abstract

Objective: A retroaortic left renal vein (RLRV) passes between the abdominal aorta and the vertebra, and drains into the inferior vena cava. This causes compression of the left renal vein between the abdominal aorta and the vertebra, and increased pressure in the left renal vein. In this study, we aimed to evaluate whether increased pressure in the left renal vein is associated with simple renal cysts in patients with RSRV in abdominal computed tomography (CT).
Material and Method: This study was performed retrospectively by scanning the abdominal CT images between 2015-2019. A total of 198 patients with RLRV were included in the study. It was statistically evaluated whether there was a significant difference between the right and left kidney in terms of number and size of cysts.
Results: The mean age of the patients was 52.6 ± 16.5 (19-90). There was no significant difference between the two kidneys in terms of number of cysts (P = 0.737). There was a significant difference between the two kidneys in terms of cyst size (P = 0.012). Cysts in the left kidney with RLRV were significantly larger.
Conclusion: In our study, while we could not find a significant difference between the two kidneys in terms of cyst numbers, we found that the size of the cysts in the left kidney with RLRV was significantly larger. This suggests that RLRV may not have an effect on formation of renal cyst, but may affect the size of the formed cysts.
