Marion, God and Negative Certainty

Year 2025, Volume: 10 Issue: 20, 272 - 288, 05.12.2025

Abstract

In this article, the phenomenological possibility of knowing God will be examined by taking Marion’s concept of negative certainty as the focal point. To this end, Marion’s understanding of phenomenon and his notion of givenness will first be addressed, followed by a discussion of the epistemological status of negative certainty. In this framework, Marion’s analysis of the mode of givenness within the phenomenal structure of the self will be presented, and finally, an evaluation will be made of what kind of possibility of knowing the concept of negative certainty opens for the phenomenon of God.

Marion, Tanrı ve Negatif Kesinlik

Year 2025, Volume: 10 Issue: 20, 272 - 288, 05.12.2025
