Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
This policy aims to establish the ethical and scientific standards regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in manuscripts submitted to the journal. The primary goal of the policy is to ensure the accurate and limited use of AI in the preparation and analysis of academic papers while maintaining data privacy and academic integrity. This policy will be updated as necessary in accordance with technological developments and evolving academic practices.
AI tools may be used solely for checking grammar, spelling, and stylistic consistency. The use of AI for data generation, interpretation, or as a substitute for original sources is not permitted.
KATMAN is committed not to use AI tools at any stage of its peer-review or publication evaluation processes. For reviewers and authors, the primary purpose of AI usage is to refine text and provide suggestions for improvement. However, if a study is primarily conducted with the support of AI and its data are obtained through AI-based applications, the manuscript will be considered dual-authored, with AI listed as the first author.
Principles for AI Usage
Transparency and Accountability
All stages, methods, and contributions of AI use must be clearly stated within the manuscript.
Accuracy
Any content or data generated by AI must be verified through reliable academic sources to ensure factual accuracy.
Responsibility
Authors are fully responsible for any use of AI in their manuscripts. The author(s) must carefully review all outputs generated by AI.
Impartiality
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and comply with the principles of impartiality. Regular checks should be performed to ensure unbiased AI usage.
Confidentiality and Security
The confidentiality of personal data must be protected, and appropriate security measures should be taken in all stages of data collection, storage, and processing.
Citation and Declaration
- AI tools should not be included in footnotes or reference lists.
- The use of AI must be declared in the Ethics Statement section of the paper. Authors should include the following statement:
“Artificial intelligence applications were utilized in the preparation of this study.” - When possible, the specific purpose of AI use (e.g., language editing, stylistic correction) should also be indicated.
KATMAN adheres to the guidelines issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding the ethical use of artificial intelligence in academic publishing.
