KATMAN Journal of Archaeological Science is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal. Inspired by the concept of archaeological stratigraphy, KATMAN aims to contribute meaningfully to the study, teaching, and dissemination of cultural heritage through an interdisciplinary academic perspective. The journal publishes original research in the fields of Prehistory, Protohistory, Greek and Roman Periods, Late Antiquity, Epigraphy, Anthropology, Cultural Heritage Studies, Archaeological Text Translations, and the documentation of cultural heritage using generative artificial intelligence technologies.

KATMAN features research articles, review papers, book reviews, excavation reports, and content-based thematic special issues. Published annually at the end of December, KATMAN adheres strictly to academic ethics and international publishing standards through a double-blind peer review process. The peer review and editorial evaluation processes are conducted through the DergiPark journal management system. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated in terms of originality, scholarly contribution, methodological rigor, and ethical compliance. In accordance with its open-access policy, KATMAN provides free and unrestricted access to all published content and does not charge authors any submission or article processing fees. To promote research transparency and reproducibility, KATMAN encourages authors of data-driven studies to share associated datasets on open-access platforms (Zenodo) with assigned DOIs. All articles are archived in Zenodo and made discoverable through the OpenAIRE infrastructure. When applicable, Zenodo DOI references for related datasets are integrated into the published articles.

To ensure academic integrity, all submissions are subject to plagiarism screening, and any allegations of scientific misconduct are carefully examined. The authors bear full responsibility for the content of their published work.

  • The official abbreviation of the journal in both Turkish and English is KATMAN.
