ÖZEL OKUL SEKTÖRÜ VE ETİK DIŞI BAŞARI MÜHENDİSLİĞİ UYGULAMALARI

Abstract

Bu araştırma, özel okulların kayıtlarını ve kazançlarını arttırmak için kullandıkları yanıltıcı ve etik olmayan rekabet uygulamalarını; bu uygulamaların öğrenciye, öğretmene, veliye ve sektöre yansımalarını inceleyen nitel bir araştırmadır. Çalışma iki özel okul kurucusu, dört üst düzey okul yöneticisi, beş öğretmen ve beş veliden oluşan toplam 16 katılımcı ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada, özel okul sektörünün rekabette avantaj sağlamak için kullandığı yanıltıcı yöntemler kısaca “Başarı Mühendisliği BM ” uygulamaları olarak isimlendirilmiş olup, söz konusu uygulamalar katılımcıların deneyimlerinden yola çıkılarak özetlenmiştir. Veriler içerik analizi yöntemi ile incelenmiş ve bulgular BM uygulamaları, bu uygulamaların öğrenciye, veliye, öğretmene ve sektöre yansımaları temaları altında sunulmuştur. Sonuçlar, etik dışı BM uygulamalarının ana nesnesinin öğrenciler, temel amacının kâr maksimizasyonu, en önemli aracının öğrenci başarısı, ana paydaşlarının öğrenci, öğretmen, veli, okul yöneticileri ve okul kurucuları olduğunu vurgulamakta ve Machivellist bir anlayışın ürünü olarak algılanan BM uygulamalarının sebep olduğu etkileri ortaya koymaktadır.

Private School Sector and Unethical Achievement Engineering Practices

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand and reveal the nature, role and consequences of tricky efforts hereafter called „Achievement Engineering Practices AEPs ‟ aiming to manipulate the parents‟ decisions about their choice of school. In this qualitative study, the definition of the AEPs provided to the participants was “unethical and misleading efforts and acts of private schools in order to raise school enrollment rates and school profits”. The data was collected from a total of 16 participants consisting of two private school founders, four high ranking school managers, five teachers and five parents. Data was analyzed through content analysis. The findings of the study were reported under five main themes: AEPs performed by the private schools and the consequences of AEPs on students, parents, teachers, and the sector itself. While the research results put forth the consequences of AEPs as a product of Machivellist approach to the marketization of education, they also pinpoint the main subject of AEPs as students, the main purpose as profit maximization, the primary tool of AEPs as student achievement, and the prominent shareholders of AEPs as teachers, students, parents, administrators and founders
