Öğretmen Adaylarının Medya Okuryazarlığı Dersi Kapsamında İnternet ve Sosyal Medya Kullanımları

Abstract

Bu çalışmada öğretmen adaylarının Medya Okuryazarlığı dersi kapsamında verilen okuma aktivitelerinde internet ve sosyal medya araçlarını kullanırken edindikleri okuma stratejilerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının verilen konu üzerine internet ya da yazılı metin kaynaklarında araştırma yaparken kullandıkları okuma stratejilerinin ve bu stratejileri belirleyen etkenlerin neler olduğunun araştırılması dijital bölünmeyi azaltmada faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Böylece eğitim ve öğretim süreçlerinde kalitenin artması, öğrencilerin dijital yetkinlik kazanması ve e-yeterliliklerinin gelişmesi yönünden bilgi toplumu sürecine katkı sağlanması hedeflenmektedir. Araştırma bir devlet üniversitesinin sınıf öğretmenliği anabilim dalında öğrenim gören dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma betimsel bir durum saptaması niteliğindedir ve araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda nitel araştırma yaklaşımı benimsenmiştir. Çalışmada araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen açık uçlu sorulardan oluşmuş anket formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerden elde edilen kodlar tekrarlanma sıklıkları doğrultusunda tablolaştırılmıştır. Bulgular, katılımcıların teknik yeterlilik, dijital teknolojileri günlük ve profesyonel hayatta amacına uygun olarak kullanma, dijital teknolojileri eleştirel olarak değerlendirebilme ve dijital kültüre katkı sağlama yeterliliklerinde bir farkındalıklarının olduğunu, ancak yetkinliklerinin sınırlı olduğunu göstermiştir.

The Use of Internet and Social Media of Pre-Service Teachers in the Context of Media Literacy Course

Abstract

In this study, reading strategies of university students in the reading activities in the Media Literacy course were aimed to be determined when using the internet and social media tools. It was considered that investigating reading strategies of students and determinants of these strategies while doing research on the internet or texts on a given topic would be beneficial in reducing the digital divide. In this way it was intended to contribute in the information society process in terms of the increase in the quality of teaching and learning processes, gaining digital compterence and skills for students. The study was conducted with fourth grade students in the classroom teaching department in a state university. The study is a descriptive case study and qualitative research approach was adopted for the purpose of research. The questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions developed by researchers was used in the study. Codes derived from the data were tabulated in line with repetition frequency. The findings indicated that participants are aware of technical proficieny, using digital technologies in accordance with the daily and professional life purpose, evaluating digital technologies critically and contributing to the digital culture, howewer, has limited abilities in e-competencies
