FEN VE TEKNOLOJİ ÖĞRETMENLERİNİN BİLİMİN DOĞASI HAKKINDAKİ GÖRÜŞLERİ

Year 2009, Volume: 10 Issue: 3, 0 - 2, 01.08.2009

Abstract

The Views of the Teachers of the Science and Technology on the Nature of Science

Year 2009, Volume: 10 Issue: 3, 0 - 2, 01.08.2009

Abstract

This investigation was practiced by the aim of identifying the views of the science and technology teachers on the nature of science. Data in this research were collected by using the questionnaire “Views on Science Technology and Society VOSTS ” improved by Aikenhead, Ryan and Fleming 1989 and by semi-structured views. Content analysis of data obtained by the questionnaire was done by coding data, which was given as a percentage and frekans, and by coding data, which was obtained via interviews. As a result of these analyses, it is realized that science and technology teachers have wrong or insufficient knowledge concerning the definition of science, the nature of observations, the tentativeness of scientific knowledge, the structure of hypotheses, theories and laws, and the scientific method
