Needs Analysis for Digital Literacy Course Curriculum for TÖMER Students

Abstract

Purpose: To reveal the digital literacy skill levels and training needs of foreign students receiving Turkish education. Design/Methodology/Approach: The digital literacy skills of the students were analysed using a mixed design in which quantitative and qualitative research methods were used together. Regarding the study group and data collection tools of the research, in the first stage, 110 students were administered the digital literacy scale, 5 trainers were interviewed through semi-structured interviews, and in the second stage, 54 foreign students were surveyed. Findings and Results: While foreign students stated that they had digital literacy tendencies, educators stated that students had deficiencies, mistakes and errors. In the questionnaire applied to the students again, findings were found in the direction stated by the educators. As a result, it is thought that students are at an intermediate level regarding digital literacy and that a curriculum is needed in this direction to ensure their development.
