Examination of Preschool Children’s Organisation of Learning Centers For Their Classrooms
Abstract
Changes in an updated program could be difficult for the practitioners like teachers.
As our national preschool program updated in 2013, some new arrangements made
and offered for the teachers. In different countries studies showed that the adaptation
of teachers to the new program took time, and teachers also were found to fail in
application of the new programs from this point of view, the main objective of the research is to determine children’s ideas about organising a new, different and special
learning center and making them to bring materials from their home to design their
new learning center. Children’s ideas were asked through some questions about
designing a different and new learning center and which materials they prefered in
the organisation of the new learning center. The time spent in the new centers, number
of children who prefered to play in that center at the same time, constructing of new
materials in their olay sessions were observed for three weeks. Findings were discussed
and implications for learning centers and for further research were determined.
