A Study of Pre-School Children’s Reactions to Vegetables: A Project Approach Model

Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to analyze the reactions of the children continuing kindergarten towards vegetables through activities based on project approach. The sample of the research consists of a total of 10 children with 1 boy and 9 girls studying in the second semester of the academic year 2014-2015 in the kindergarten of an elementary school located in Sarıçam district of the city of Adana and their mothers. Pictures related to vegetables drawn by the children before and after the study, mother information forms, information form in regard to the reactions of the children against vegetables and vegetable table for children were used as data collection tools. Regarding the results of the study, while an increase was observed in the weekly vegetable consumption levels of children in the food group rankings, there was a decrease in the number of vegetables they did not like eating. It was seen that the types of vegetable that the children did not recognize, name and eat decreased.
