Investigation of The Attitudes of Secondary School Students Towards The Profession of Physical Education Teaching

Abstract

The study aims to investigate the level of attitudes of students studying at secondary school towards the profession of physical education teaching based on several variables. This research was designed with screening model. The study group consisted a total of 430 secondary school students selected by random sampling method among 11th graders studying at the secondary schools located in the Province of Balıkesir, Turkey. The descriptive statistics were calculated and independent-samples t-test and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique was used for the analysis of the data obtained using the “Attitude Scale for the Profession of Physical Education Teaching”. According to study findings, the mean attitude scores of the participants towards the profession of physical education teaching was found to be 2.93±0.89. From the stand point of sex at Male students, from the stand point of school in students at labor school, students having the middle level of perceived family income and academic success and both doing sports in school team and athletic club are seen higher in attitude value.
