Investigation Of Against Writing Skills Attitude Of Turkish Student Teachers In Terms Of Certain Variables

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate attitudes towards writing skills of students studying in Turkish teaching department of education faculties in terms of some variables. At the study was used Writing Attitude Scale (WAS) that was developed by Marcia O’Neal et al. (1984) and was made validity and reliability by Göçer (2014) as a data collection instrument. Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of the scale was found as .85. The participant are 294 Turkish student teachers studying in Turkish teaching department 4 university’s Faculties of Education in the different geographical regions of Turkey in the study. The data obtained analyzed using Tukey test, F test (ANOVA), arithmetic mean, standard deviation and t-test statistical methods for the purposes of the research. According to the results achieved from the data, is no difference attitudes towards writing skills in terms of the variables graduated high school type and type of education for Turkish student teachers; were found to be the difference in terms of gender, and they read university variables. Execution of writing activities of outside school in the subdimension of the scale was found to be significantly higher male students than female students’ levels and was found to be significantly higher levels of Karadeniz Technical University than Erciyes University students’ level.
