Karşılıklı Bağımlılık: Depresyon, Sosyal Onay ve Kendini Sevme/Özyeterlik Açısından Bir Değerlendirme

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarında depresyon, sosyal onay ihtiyacı ve kendini sevme/özyeterliğin karşılıklı bağımlılığın yordayıcıları olarak araştırılmasıdır. Araştırmada aynı zamanda depresyon, sosyal onay ihtiyacı, kendini sevme-özyeterliğin ve karşılıklı bağımlılığın çeşitli değişkenlere göre karşılaştırılması da amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma, Eğitim Fakültesi’nde öğrenim gören 195 (156 kız ve 39 erkek) üniversite öğrencisi üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada Beck Depresyon Envanteri, Sosyal Onay İhtiyacı Ölçeği, Spann-Fischer İlişki Bağımlılığı Ölçeği, Kendini Sevme/Özyeterlik Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi için t testi, One Way Anova, Çoklu Regresyon Analizi ve Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyon Analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada yapılan analizler sonucunda, üniversite öğrencilerinde depresyon, sosyal onay ihtiyacı ve kendini sevme değişkenlerinin karşılıklı bağımlılığın %49’unu açıkladığı bulunmuştur. Araştırmada, depresyonun en fazla katkı sağlayan değişken olduğu bulunmuştur. Özyeterlik değişkeninin ise modele katkı sağlamadığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Cinsiyete göre yapılan analizlerde değişkenler açısından anlamlı farklılığa rastlanmazken, doğum sırasına göre yapılan analizlerde ilk doğanların diğerlerine göre öz yeterlilik puanlarının daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar, karşılıklı bağımlılık, sosyal onay ihtiyacı, depresyon ve kendini sevme/özyeterlik açısından diğer araştırmalara da ışık tutacak şekilde tartışılmıştır.

Codependency: An Evaluation in Terms of Depression, Need for Social Approval and Self-Love/Self-Efficacy

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the current study is to investigate pre-service teachers’ depression, needs for social approval and selflove/self-efficacy as the predictors of codependency. It is also aimed in this research to compare depression, need for social
approval, self-love/self-efficacy and codependency according to various variables.
Design/Methodology/Approach: The study was conducted on 195 education faculty students (156 females and 39 males) and
used the Beck Depression Inventory, the Need for Social Approval Scale, the Spann-Fischer Codependency Scale and the SelfLove/Self-Efficacy Scale to collect data. In the analysis of the collected data, t test, One Way Anova, Pearson Moment-Products
Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Regression Analysis were used.
Findings: As a result of the analyses, it was found that depression, need for social approval, self-love and self-efficacy variables
explain 49% of codependency. Depression was found to be the variable making the greatest contribution. Self-efficacy was
found to be not making any contribution to the model. While gender was found to be leading to no significant difference, the
analyses taking birth order into consideration revealed that the firstborn has higher self-efficacy compared to the others.
Conclusions: This research is important in terms of the variables that predict codependency. The findings of the current study
are discussed to shed light for future research on codependency, the need for social approval, depression and self-love/selfefficacy.
