Abstract

Abstract

In recent years, economic growth, urbanization, and renewable energy consumption have become increasingly important in achieving sustainable development goals. The impact of these dynamics on environmental sustainability is drawing growing attention, particularly in developing countries. This study aims to examine the causality effects between economic growth, urbanization, renewable energy consumption, and load capacity factor in the Turkiye economy simultaneously. Using the data sets from the Turkiye economy between 1990 and 2020, the Toda-Yamamoto Causality Analysis was conducted to investigate the causality relationship between economic growth, urbanization, renewable energy consumption, and the load capacity factor. The findings from the causality analysis reveal a bidirectional causality between urbanization and the load capacity factor, as well as between renewable energy consumption and the load capacity factor. Additionally, no causality was detected from economic growth to the load capacity factor and from the load capacity factor to economic growth. This highlights the significance and role of urbanization and renewable energy consumption within these dynamics. The obtained findings offer important implications for policymakers and environmental management strategies.
