Futuristic Approaches in the Use of Textile Materials in Contemporary Spatial Design

Abstract

Thanks to the 21st century technology, the needs and demands of users in their living spaces have changed; the use of smart and multifunctional materials with more innovative features in terms of function and form instead of traditional materials has become important. Therefore, designers should examine the design possibilities offered by multifunctional building materials equipped with innovative technologies that can meet user expectations. The aim of this study is to determine how textile materials produced with new technologies can be used in space design with innovative and different visions other than traditional design approaches. Based on the principles of futurism approach, it is examined how innovative textiles can create the living spaces of the future in contemporary space designs. This article is a research study that analyses various futuristic concepts and art installations to determine how technological textiles can be used by designers in the living spaces of the future. The focus of the study is on the ways in which smart textiles are handled by designers in the conceptual examples presented in the current period. At the end of the research, it is concluded that smart textile materials will be an important tool for designers due to the diversity and flexibility they offer in design.

Çağdaş Mekân Tasarımında Tekstil Malzemesinin Kullanımında Fütüristik Yaklaşımlar

Abstract

21. yüzyıl teknolojisinin sunduğu olanaklar sayesinde kullanıcıların yaşam alanlarındaki ihtiyaç ve taleplerindeki değişim göstermiş; geleneksel malzemeler yerine işlev ve biçim açısından daha yenilikçi özelliklere sahip, akıllı ve çok fonksiyonlu malzemelerin kullanımı önemli hale gelmiştir. Bu nedenle tasarımcılar, kullanıcı beklentilerini karşılayabilecek yenilikçi teknolojilerle donatılmış çok işlevli yapı malzemelerinin sunduğu tasarım olanaklarını incelemelidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, yeni teknolojilerle üretilen tekstil malzemelerinin geleneksel tasarım yaklaşımlarının dışında yenilikçi ve farklı vizyonlarla mekân tasarımında nasıl kullanılabileceğini değerlendirmektir. Fütürizm yaklaşımının ilkelerinden yola çıkarak çağdaş mekân tasarımlarında yenilikçi tekstillerin nasıl geleceğin yaşam alanlarını oluşturabileceği incelenmiştir. Bu makale, teknolojik tekstillerin tasarımcılar tarafından geleceğin yaşam alanlarında nasıl kullanılabileceğini belirlemek için çeşitli fütüristik konseptleri ve sanat enstalasyonlarını analiz eden bir araştırma çalışmasıdır. Çalışmanın odak noktasını, içinde bulunduğumuz dönemde ortaya konan kavramsal örneklerde akıllı tekstillerin tasarımcılar tarafından ele alınış biçimleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın sonunda akıllı tekstil malzemelerinin tasarımda sundukları çeşitlilik ve esneklik nedeniyle tasarımcılar için önemli bir araç olacağı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
