Abstract
Technological and scientific developments have increased the quality of life of people today. Inventions and discoveries in the field of health have made human life longer. At the same time, it has enabled many diseases to be eliminated or patients to be treated with new drugs and new methods. However, these new developments also caused an increase in environmental pollution, the amount and variety of wastes. These medical and biomedical wastes pose risks in terms of environment and public health. In addition to these developments, with the Covid-19 (SARS-CoV 2) epidemic period that has emerged in recent years, the activities and duties of health institutions have increased even more. With this increase, the amount and variety of both medical and biomedical wastes and domestic wastes have increased. With this study, the provisions of the laws and regulations concerning the separate collection, transportation, temporary storage and final disposal of the medical and biomedical wastes are summarized in a shorter and concise manner. The laws and regulations regarding these wastes are listed in effect. It has been tried to contribute to the importance and planning of medical waste management plans. It has been stated that the most important task for the success of the medical waste management plan is the healthcare professionals.
